    This building fits well into its context; the jury felt that the entry court was thoughtful and seductive.

    The exterior elevations, in particular, are elegant and restrained compositionally; the proportion of the different pieces are well considered, the pallet of colors and materials were noticed.

    The jury appreciated the openness of the gym to the outside and adjacent entry/stair hall.

    The main entrance to the home is both intriguing and elegant; the jury felt that this was strong compositionally and was one of the most successful of the design elements.

    The jury also appreciated the contrast of forms and the architect’s willingness to experiment with a variety of building materials in inventive ways.

    The jury commends the architect on the successful integration of a complex program that solved a number of logistical problems, incorporating parking, vehicular circulation, service spaces and an outdoor play space surrounded by the new construction; all of this was done within a city block while respecting the urban fabric.

    The jury appreciates the design of the interior courtyard addition featuring glass and metal pieces that set in contrast to the surrounding solid masonry buildings.
